Esplanade Jean-Paul II, La Major. Avec ses 9 500 m² de dalles, son banc en pierre de 220 mètres de long, ses 44 mélias plantés et son panorama unique, l'Esplanade de la Major est devenue en 2016 une des nouvelles grandes places de la ville…mais elle se sera fait attendre (16 ans !) et son immense bassin initialement prévu abandonné.

Elle offre un nouveau belvédère sur le port et la baie de Marseille, à quelques mètres des Terrasses du Port qui offrent une vue similaire aux visiteurs du centre commercial. Mais le chantier, qui aura duré 16 ans, n'a pas été sans.
